Remembering "Junior"

A face from my past came back into my life suddenly on Sunday afternoon when I received an email from a distant relative. "Junior" had died last week.

If I look closely at his face I can see my grandma, who raised me in West Allis. If you read the obit of Fred Stoll (click here) you will see that he had a sister named Dorothy Trokan. That was my grandma.

Jr. lived 'up north' from me when I was a kid, but I remember several visits in West Allis when he and my grandma were always joking around. They both had a quick wit and a sense of humor, always at the ready with a bad pun or two.

So in a way I think that is where I must have inherited the sense of humor I have been able to use to make a living.

Maybe it all started here with "Junior" in my blood lines. I wonder if he and my grandma are up there somewhere now cracking jokes together again?
