Fox Cities Reads program grows

For the past 11 years, thousands of people in the Fox Cities have read a different book each year for a community event.

Joe Bongers of the Menasha Public Library is an organizer of Fox Cities Reads. He says when they started, five local libraries worked together. Now, four school districts, UW-Fox Valley, and the History Museum at the Castle are also involved.

Bongers says as the community read grew, so did the crowds. He says they would fill the room when an author came to speak.

This year's book is "Stella By Starlite" by Sharon Draper. It's about the racial struggles that a girl had to deal with, while growing up in North Carolina in the 1930s.
