Proposal would tighten recount rules
0 0

There's a proposal to put stricter standards in place for recounts.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein paid for a statewide recount of the presidential race last fall.

Some Republicans are working on a bill that would require a candidate to be within one percent of the winner's vote total. That's if there are more than 4,000 votes. When there are fewer than 4,000, the candidate would need to be within 40.

Taxpayers would still pay for a recount, if the difference is within one-quarter of a percent.
