A group that helps refugees settle in the area is celebrating the five-year anniversary of its first family moving in.
Tami McLaughlin is the director of World Relief Fox Valley. She says they came from Burma, as a family of three. McLaughlin says since then, they had another baby, they bought a house in Oshkosh, and they have two cars.
McLaughlin says they also plan to apply for citizenship, now that they've been here for five years.
She says the father started with an entry-level job, and he's been able to move up to a better position with a higher salary. So far, McLaughlin says the family has been able to meet all of its goals.
She says volunteers help the family, and they get plenty of community support.
