Bank columns might have a home in Menasha

The four large, limestone columns that used to be by the entrance to a bank in downtown Menasha could have a new home soon.

The former First National Bank was torn down to make room for the One Menasha Center office building.

Community development director David Buck says they're looking to build a small park, where Mill Street meets the Fox River. He says the columns would be the main features.

City preservationists worked to save the columns, and the office building owners agreed to store them in the meantime.

The city council will talk about the proposal on Monday.
