People in Kimberly, Little Chute, and Combined Locks can communicate with their neighbors, through a social media site that police are participating in.
Fox Valley Metro Officer Michael Lambie says Nextdoor is set up like a neighborhood watch group.
He says the police department can send notifications to certain neighborhoods or an entire community, if there's a crime alert. He says people can also send messages to police to report something that's going on.
Lambie says police don't have access to the conversations that neighbors are having on Nextdoor.
He says people will be placed into neighborhood groups, based on their address. They're private groups, and Nextdoor verifies that someone lives in an area, by sending a postcard.
