The founder of a community group that's been pushing to allow chickens in Appleton believes 15 to 20 people will apply for a permit.

Shannon Kenevan started the City Peeps Facebook page several years ago. He wants to help people pay for the initial $149 inspection fee. He says they plan to offer $75 scholarships.

Kenevan says he asked for donations this morning on the Facebook page. He believes allowing chickens will have a positive environmental and health benefit.
