Cowles: WEDC progressing, but more work needed
0 0

The latest audit of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation shows that the agency has improved the way incentives are administered.

But Republican Sen. Rob Cowles says the Legislative Audit Bureau also found that the agency isn't requiring companies to provide adequate data, so officials can analyze the programs.

The Allouez Republican says without that information, they can tell if grant or tax credit programs are actually working. He says if they're not, they need to come up with something else.

The agency was under fire, after two earlier audits uncovered a series of issues. Governor Walker formed the WEDC six years ago, to help create jobs.
