New Meijer store under construction in G.C.
0 0

The first Meijer store in northeast Wisconsin opened yesterday, and people in the Fox Cities will have to wait another year to get one in their area.

The Michigan-based company is building a supercenter-type store along I-41, next to the Richmond Street exit in Grand Chute.

Bob Buckingham is the town's community development director. He says they just started construction in the last week or so, and it will take about 12 months to finish the project.

Meijer sells groceries and department store items.

The company actually picked the Grand Chute location two years ago, but construction couldn't start until a large natural gas pipeline was moved.

The grand opening for the Meijer store in Howard was yesterday.
