Ripon's mayor reacts to cookie plant reopening

A cookie plant in Ripon is reopening, and the city's mayor says it's a small start.

About two-dozen workers are making wafer cookies for a company that's based on Long Island, New York called Signature Wafer.

Mayor Gary Will is happy to see cookies making a comeback in "Cookie Town U.S.A." after several months.

The company is using a small plant that closed in November of last year. Treehouse Foods was also making wafer cookies there, with about 60 workers.

The parent company of Rippin' Good Cookies, ConAgra Foods, shut down the main plant in 2015. About 300 people lost their jobs back then.
