Some groups in the Fox Valley are looking at the connection between brain injuries and homelessness.
Five agencies surveyed their clients about whether they’ve suffered any brain or neck injuries.
Kathleen Connolly is involved with the BRAIN Fox Valley initiative. She says they were caught off guard when 87 percent said they had. More than half reported being knocked unconscious.
Connolly says at first they wanted to raise awareness, but now they’re focusing on how to help people.
She says they want to prevent people with brain and neck injuries from becoming homeless, and help them transition back into the community.
