4-K teachers in the Appleton school district are using a grant to help parents teach their children.
The $10,000 went toward books that parents can use at home.
4-K director Suzette Preston says teachers talk with parents every week to provide a lesson plan. She says the books give the parents another idea to help their kids learn.
She says over 80 percent of brain development happens in the first five years of life.
There are about 900 kids in the district’s 4-K program.
The Appleton Education Foundation provided the money to buy the books.
