Governor Evers wants to decriminalize having small amounts of marijuana, and some lawmakers are weighing in.
Republican Sen. Tom Tiffany of Hazel is on the Legislature’s budget committee. He believes it’s outrageous that Evers claims to be “for the children,” when researchers are learning about the impact the drug can have on the brain, especially young people.
Democratic Senator Jon Erpenbach of Middleton urged lawmakers to listen to people who use marijuana, and the people who try to get it for a loved one.
The governor’s proposed budget would decriminalize having up to 25 grams, or growing or selling up to that same amount.
