If Appleton’s city council wants to exempt vaping shops from a proposed ban members are going to have to figure it out.
City leaders have been talking about adding vaping to the city’s smoking ban for a few months.
After council members couldn’t come up with specific wording on an exemption last month, they asked the Board of Health to help. The board isn’t budging on its recommendation for no exemptions to the ban.
Mayor Tim Hanna is on the board, and he says they should let the council hash things out. He says it’s not the board’s job to read minds, on what council is intending to do.
There are two vaping shops in Appleton.
Grand Chute added a vaping ban in public places, and did not include an exemption for shops in the town.
