The state justice department is confirming that two young girls were murdered in Seymour.
Investigators say 35-year-old Andrew Poppe died of a self-inflicted wound.
The three bodies were found in a home on Main Street two weeks ago.
A search warrant says four-year-old Mattelin Samson and three-month-old Hailey Poppe might’ve been stabbed.
The warrant says police went to the house, the day before, for a domestic violence investigation. It says the victim told investigators Poppe threatened to kill her, and her children, if she called police.
Court records show Poppe faced two domestic abuse cases in the past. He served 12 months on probation, after he was convicted in 2015. He finished a deferred prosecution deal in a 2012 case.
The state justice department took over the Seymour investigation.
