Starting next year, the Fox Crossing Fire Department will staff one of its stations 24 hours a day on weekends.
The department is getting a FEMA grant to pay a crew of three to be at the station at all times.
Chief Brian Harbison says the grant covers three years of their costs, but he expects it will become a permanent fixture. He hopes the village board will agree to fund it in the future, and possibly also expand it to their other station.
The full-time weekend staffing will start on January 1st.
The Fox Crossing Fire Department is looking to hire a dozen new firefighters to cover the new hours.
