Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of months, you know that Wisconsin has some major decisions to make when it comes to laying out the budget for the next 2 years. Whether it’s providing funding for one of the number of programs that has remained underfunded since the pandemic (or possibly earlier!), or figuring out what we as a state would like to do with the billions and billions of surplus dollars we’ve accumulated, every resident on the state has an opinion.
4 listening sessions have officially been planned and will be attended by as many representatives as possible (Waukesha, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Dells, and Minocqua), but it has been pointed out that some of the most populated areas of the state are being completely ignored. As a result, the Democrats in the Joint Finance Committee have decided to hold some additional sessions.
On Monday April 17th, they will be at the Girl Scout Building on Lindale Drive in Appleton at 10:30AM, and then they will head to the Botanical Gardens Cornerstone Foundation Hall in Green Bay at 3:00PM
State Senator Kelda Roys represents the 26th District in the state, and she will be one of the representatives in our area on Monday. She joined me to give me some of the details surrounding what led to the decision to add extra sessions, and what they hope to learn when it’s all said and done.
