APPLETON, Wis–The Outagamie County Board will meet in special session tonight (Tuesday) to vote on censuring one of its members. Supervisor Timothy Hermes has come under fire for comments made at a meeting last month after a presentation on diversity, equity, and inclusion, where he claimed that men were dressing up as women to molest girls in changing rooms.

A resolution says the board “…finds the conduct of Supervisor Hermes to be damaging to the good reputation of Outagamie County, to be disrespectful and insensitive to members of our community, and to be inconsistent with the mission of Outagamie County, its employees, officers, and the majority of the County Board of Supervisors.”
The resolution also calls for Board Chairman Jeff Nooyen to verbally censure Hermes, who has claimed he will not back away from his comments, and accuses his fellow supervisors of “bullying him”.
