OSHKOSH, WI — The Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group reports a more than four-thousand percent increase in the amount of fentanyl seized during drug busts last year. Special Agent in Charge Jeremiah Winscher says that trend continues this year.
“And so far in 2023, we’ve already seized 295-percent more fentanyl than in the calendar year of 2021,” Winscher said. “And those numbers in 2022 are remarkable with a 4, 400-percent increase than the previous year of 6,300 grams. Over 14-pounds.”
Trace amounts of the drug are enough to kill a person.
