A Wrightstown boy is going to be with his friends at school today, after he underwent a liver transplant several months ago.
Eight-year-old Brayden Auten was hit by an unknown virus in April.
His father, James Auten, says they were waiting there, and just watching him get sicker. His mother, Ruth Auten, says it hits you in the stomach, and you don’t know what to do.
Doctors at Children’s Hospital in the Milwaukee area decided Brayden needed a transplant. After a search for donors, Cami Loritz, an ICU nurse in Milwaukee, stepped up.
She grew up in Denmark, and James believes it’s a miracle that she came forward. He says what Cami did was completely selfless, and she saved Brayden’s life, plain and simple.
Brayden was able to come home from the hospital in July.
