News » Area businesses more optimistic about economy
Feb. 3, 2010 A survey of businesses in the Fox Cites shows that they're much more optimistic about the economy than they were a year ago.
The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce released its annual outlook this morning, and 28 percent believe the area's economy will grow, while 69 percent think it will stabilize.
Chamber president Bill Welch says 73 percent think their sales will increase and 19 percent believe they will stay the same.
The employment outlook is much better too. Welch says 40 percent expect to add jobs, while 56 percent plan to keep the same number of workers.
Welch says workers might receive modest raises this year. 46 percent of businesses expect to boost salaries by 2 to 3 percent. 31 percent anticipate giving raises of 1 percent or less. |
