News » Appleton shatters summer rainfall record

Sept. 2, 2010
Wet weather all summer helped Appleton break the rainfall record this summer.

National Weather Service meteorologist Tasos  Kallas says the city received 23.4 inches of rain between June and the end of August.  That broke the previous record, which was set in 1961, by more than four inches.

Kallas says we can expect more of the same from Mother Nature in September.  But he says the Labor Day weekend should be nice.  Kallas says after some morning showers tomorrow, we shouldn't see any more rain until the middle of next week.
