News » Lawmaker wants to protect victims with 911 bill

Feb. 8, 2010
A state lawmaker says she's trying to protect people from being continually re-victimized with her proposal that would limit media access to 911 calls.

Rep. Amy Sue Vruwink wants to prohibit broadcasters from playing those calls on the air, or posting them on their Web sites.

The Milladore Democrat's bill would make the transcripts of 911 calls available.

Vruwink's proposal was the subject of a public hearing last week.
