News » Feingold: Unused earmarks could reduce deficit
Mar. 12, 2010 A Wisconsin senator says he has a plan to help reduce the federal deficit.
Sen. Russ Feingold says lawmakers should cancel transportation earmarks that are at least 10 years old and haven't been used. He says that would bring in at least $626 million.
Feingold says in order to qualify, at least 90 percent of the funding for a delayed project must still be set aside in a federal transportation account.
He says there is bi-partisan support for his proposal. |
