News » UW-Oshkosh might develop 'apps' for phones

Sept. 3, 2010
Smart phones are becoming more popular on college campuses, and universities are exploring ways to use them, to connect with students.

Jamie Ceman works in technology and marketing at UW-Oshkosh. She says they hope to start developing different "apps" that students can download onto their smart phone. She says they could include "apps" with campus maps, event information, news, and a student and faculty directory.

Ceman says it's important to make sure those "apps" are available on the various kinds of smart phones.

A recent survey at UW-Madison found that about 45 percent of students have a smart phone.
