News » Grace period over for car insurance law
Sept. 7, 2010 Some drivers are finding out the hard way that auto insurance is now mandatory in Wisconsin.
The law requiring proof of insurance went into effect in June, but Captain Mike Jobe of the Outagamie County sheriffs department says some people aren't getting the message.
Jobe says since June, deputies wrote about 20 $200 tickets for not having insurance and 70 $10 tickets for not having proof of insurance.
He says it's hard to believe that anyone wouldn't know that car insurance is required in Wisconsin, because of all of the media attention the issue received. |
