Authorities are still investigating what caused the explosion. They say it appears there was a chemical reaction when the water was sprayed on the metal by-products that were in the dumpster.
Sgt. Mark Wiegert of the Calumet County sheriff's department says they don't think foul play was involved. He says they consider the incident an accident.
Special Agent Kevin Heimerl of the state fire marshall's office says they ordered a series of lab tests on the materials that were inside the dumpster. |
