Authorities are warning snowmobilers and motorists to stay off of the ice, unless they are sure that it is safe.
Cpt. Mike Jobe of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department says that means checking with the DNR before venturing out onto the ice.
A number of snowmobiles have broken through the ice on the mouths of the Fox and Wolf rivers in recent days. Jobe says the ice conditions in those areas are unpredictable.
Jobe says you can't afford to guess about ice conditions or assume it's safe if other vehicles are on the ice. |
