News » DNR secretary supports special hunt
Jan. 15, 2010 The head of Wisconsin's DNR says he's on board with a plan to let members of the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat team hunt this winter.
Secretary Matt Frank says he's not sure how it would work right now, but he is talking with state lawmakers to accommodate the soldiers who missed the November deer hunt, because they were serving in Iraq
Some of the options include a special February gun hunting season, or letting the soldiers hunt in areas where farmers suffer a lot of crop damage from deer.
A Trempealeau County lawmaker proposed the idea after a soldier contacted him from Iraq and asked for a special hunt. |
