News » Federal E-file system up and running

Jan. 18, 2010
E-filers can already start entering their tax returns on-line.

The IRS launched its on-line filing system over the weekend. Angela Kraus is a spokeswoman for the IRS, and she says taxpayers have two options when they decide to file electronically.

The first is the free-file computer program, for people who make under $57,000 a year. She says if their income is higher than that, they can still file for free, but they need to fill out the actual forms on the computer.

Kraus says people get their refunds faster when they file on-line. Last year, more than 2.6 million in Wisconsin did just that.
