News » Lawrence campus center receives awards
Feb. 1, 2010 A Wisconsin magazine says a new building on the Lawrence University campus is among the best in the state.
Wisconsin Builder's magazine listed the Warch Campus Center as one of its top projects in 2009. The list recognizes projects that have made a difference in the community, triumph despite tricky circumstances, or introduce a new technique to the industry.
Lynn Hagee was the building's project manager. She says the campus center qualified in a couple of ways. It offers students a lot of services that the old union didn't, and it's the first college or university building in Wisconsin to be LEED Gold certified for being environmentally friendly.
She says the building also conserves energy and cuts water usage. Hagee says the Warch Center was also recognized by the Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association.
Hagee says the Warch Center provides a lot of services that students didn't have before, including a campus movie theater, post office and convenience store. |
