News » Two Republicans lead way in 8th Dist. fundraising
Feb. 1, 2010 In the last three months of 2009, the leading Republican campaign fundraisers for the 8th congressional district race brought in almost the same amount.
State Rep. Roger Roth of Grand Chute collected about $53,000 and former Kaukauna roofing contractor Reid Ribble raised about $52,000.
Ribble says he's happy with that total, because he spent much of his time transferring his business to his nephew. He also had the most "cash on hand" at the end of last year, with nearly $116,000.
Roth launched his campaign in December, so he says he raised his money in a short amount of time. He says his campaign reached his goal of $50,000 and 200 individual contributors.
Retired Green Bay doctor Marc Trager was third in fourth-quarter fundraising among Republicans with $46,000. Former State Rep. Terri McCormick brought in 35,000, and Door Country supervisor Marc Savard raised $6,500. Brown County supervisor Andy Williams didn't have a report on file.
Incumbent Congressman Steve Kagen raised more in the fourth quarter than the top three Republicans combined. The Appleton Democrat collected about $152,000 and he had more than $550,000 "on hand." |
