News » January sets all-time record for fewest fatalities

Feb. 2, 2010
Last month was the safest one on record, on Wisconsin roads.

Dennis Hughes of the state department of transportation says 21 people were killed in accidents last year, breaking the record of January of 1943. 22 people died in that month 67 years ago.

Hughes says the state started tracking traffic fatalities in 1937.

Hughes says 14 fewer people died this January, compared to last year. The deadliest January was in 1964, when 82 people died in traffic crashes.
