News » Theda Clark doctor supports 'texting' ban
Feb. 2, 2010 The trauma director at Theda Clark Medical Center is calling on state lawmakers to finish work on a "texting while driving" ban.
The Senate and Assembly both passed measures that would ban texting while behind the wheel, but they have to iron out a couple of differences before it's sent to Gov. Doyle for final approval.
Dr. Raymond Georgen says an increasing number of people are seriously injured in crashes caused by texting. He says many people don't realize how dangerous it is.
Georgen says the warning is most important for young drivers because they "text" more often than older drivers. He says they highlight the danger during the Party at the PAC, the annual event where area officials talk to high school students about risky behaviors. |
