Authorities are investigating an embezzlement scheme, and three Fond du Lac city employees are suspects in the case.
Fond du Lac County district attorney Daniel Kaminsky issued a statement today, saying it appears some workers in the information technology department were involved in a "sophisticated conspiracy." He says it appears they used city funds to pay for fraudulent invoices that covered up the purchase of personal items.
Kaminsky says their investigation shows that employees may have also taken surplus parts, and either sold them for personal profit or kept them for personal use.
He says they started their investigation last year, and the workers may have been stealing from the city for several years. |
