News » Evers says schools have to be creative
Feb. 11, 2010 The state's school superintendent says local school districts have to find ways to get by until the economy improves.
Tony Evers was in Appleton today to visit Richmond Elementary School. He says schools throughout Wisconsin are dealing with significant budget shortfalls and they'll have to wait until the state has more money.
A school advocacy group wants the state to increase the sales tax by a penny to help fund schools. Evers says he appreciates the effort. But he says there's no way lawmakers would pass that kind of a tax increase right now. |
