News » Appleton elementary school gets credit union

Feb. 19, 2010
An area credit union is expanding its financial education program in Appleton.

Community First Credit Union already has branches in Appleton's high schools, and today officials opened a new branch at Jefferson elementary school.

School superintendent Lee Allinger says when students open an account, Community First gives them $5 to encourage them to save.  He says it's a great way to teach students financial responsibility.

Allinger says he hopes they can expand the credit union program to other elementary schools, and eventually some middle schools.
