News » Stimulus money will boost rural broadband
Feb. 19, 2010 Broadband Internet access is hard to come by in some rural parts of Wisconsin, but the federal stimulus package could help change that.
Governor Doyle approved a $28.7 million project yesterday that will install fiber optic cables in 467 schools and libraries in more than 380 communities.
Access Wisconsin is one of the businesses that's working on the project. Company president Mark Weller says it will help students, businesses, and people looking for work.
Nearly $23 million of the money is coming from the stimulus package. The state is responsible for the rest. |
