News » Survey projects 5% boost in jobs in 4th quarter

Sept. 7, 2010
A survey of companies found that about 15 percent of businesses in the area, and across the state. plan to hire more workers in the fourth quarter of the year.

Amber Laurent is the manager of the Appleton office of Manpower, which conducted the poll, and she says they anticipate a five-percent increase in new jobs before the end of 2010.

Laurent says that's down from last year's forecast of a 13 percent increase in jobs in the fourth quarter, but it's still a good thing that companies are looking to hire more workers. She says the increases could come across the board.

Laurent says while 15 percent plan to hire, 11 percent might reduce their payroll in the final three months of the year. About 70 percent expect to stay the same.
