News » Sames challenging ID in mall assault
Sept. 3, 2010 The girl who told police a man had sexual contact with her outside of the Fox River Mall several months ago identified the suspect in a surveillance video and picked out the same person out of a photo lineup.
That's what three Grand Chute investigators told a judge yesterday afternoon, during a motion hearing.
35-year-old Jamie Sames of Minnesota is accused of posing as a police officer and confronting a 13-year-old girl about shoplifting, outside of the Target store. His defense attorney is challenging the process of how Sames was identified as the suspect.
Detective Michael Renkis says they showed the girl the video from the exit of the Target store, and she told them "That's him" when the suspect appeared on the tape.
Renkis says they showed her the video before they released it to the public to make sure that they were putting out a picture of the correct suspect.
The motion hearing will continue next Tuesday. |
