News » About 735,000 traveling over Labor Day holiday

Sept. 3, 2010
Nearly 10 percent more Wisconsinites are planning to take a trip over the Labor Day weekend.

Beth Mosher of AAA Wisconsin says because of the economy, last year set a record for the fewest number of travelers. About 735,000 people are planning a trip of at least 50 miles.

Mosher says gas prices are around $2.70 a gallon, and that's about seven cents higher than a year ago. She says that's not a deciding factor in whether someone is going to travel this year.

The AAA survey found that travelers will spend an average of almost $700 over the holiday weekend.
