News » Wisconsin Ave. work starting soon in Appleton

Mar. 10, 2010
In less than two weeks, much of Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton will be shut down for the first part of a major reconstruction project.

Keith Curran is an engineer for the city's public works department. He says they're going to start on the first segment, between Erb St. and Union St., on Monday, March 22. The rest of the work will get under way about a month later.

Crews are going to install new sewer, water and other utilities this summer between Erb Street and Ballard Road. Curran says the work will continue through September.

He says they'll be back at it again next year, with the DOT taking over to reconstruct the street, using concrete.

Curran says just like when the College Avenue bridge was out, people will have to find other ways to get where they're going.
