News » Candidate for governor visits training center
Feb. 5, 2010 Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says a worker training facility in Kaukauna could serve as a model to the rest of the state.
Barrett is the only Democrat running for governor.
He visited the training facility run by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 400 yesterday. Barrett says it's a great collaboration between management and employees that keeps a worker's training up to date.
He says the state needs more of those partnerships, because the state can't afford to fund large training programs..
Looking ahead to the November election, Barrett says the Fox Valley could be a pivotal swing area. He says there are a lot of independent voters here, and they could decide the race.
Barrett will face the winner of the Republican primary. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and former Congressman Mark Neumann are vying for the GOP nomination. |
