News » State in good position for 'green job' training
Feb. 4, 2010 As the "green energy" industry expands, Wisconsin could become a leader in job training. That's the finding of a new report by the Center on Wisconsin Strategy.
The study found that Wisconsin has the nation's largest manufacturing sector and the infrastructure is already in place to train workers in a variety of fields. Wisconsin Technical College System spokesman Conor Smyth says it wouldn't be difficult to transition from traditional manufacturing training to green manufacturing.
JoAnna Richard of the state's workforce development department says many Wisconsin companies are already actively involved in the green economy. She says those companies need a pool of qualified people to choose from when they expand. |
