News » Prof: History will judge success of war in Iraq
Aug. 31, 2010 President Obama is marking the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq today, and a political science professor says it's hard to tell how history will judge our actions there.
Lawrence University professor Arnold Shober says a lot will depend on Iraq's ability to sustain a democracy.
He says Iraq did not leave the same bitter taste as Vietnam, so candidates who are veterans of the war will use that experience to their advantage.
Shober says it seems that Americans are now forgetting about Iraq and focusing again on Afghanistan. |
