News » Group works to rejuvenate baseball diamond

Aug. 28, 2009
Supporters of an effort to restore a baseball diamond on Appleton's northside are getting together tomorrow to dedicate the upgraded field.

Cary Mares helped lead the fundraising drive to save the diamond behind St. Pius X Church on W. Marquette Street. He says people didn't just donate money, they also helped on a Saturday earlier this month to replace the fencing, spread new dirt on the infield and put together the bleachers and dugout benches.

The upgraded "Falcon Field" is named after the school mascot, and tomorrow's celebration starts at 10 a.m.
