News » UW-Oshkosh developing e-textbooks

Oct. 19, 2009
UW Oshkosh students may have fewer books to carry in the future, thanks to a federal grant to explore the feasibility of creating e-textbooks.

Oshkosh Student Association Vice President Alex Abendschein says the $300,000 grant will help the university develop its own on-line textbooks by having professors in a certain department put together their own curriculum.

He says the professors could then add their own sections that would be used for their class.  Abendschein says online textbooks are a new trend.

He says the e-textbooks would also save students a lot of money, because they would only have to pay an access fee to see the material.
