News » Group waiting for end of 'Don't ask, don't tell'
Feb. 5, 2010 The spokeswoman for a state gay rights group is hoping that the days of "Don't ask, don't tell" in the military are over sooner than later.
Earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the policy should come to an end. Officials believe it will take about a year to end the policy. Katie Belenger of Fair Wisconsin thinks it's possible to move faster.
Belenger says about 25 percent of the troops in Iraq know that one of their fellow soldiers is gay.
"Don't ask, don't tell" was originally implemented during the Clinton administration. |
