News » FVTC hosts benefit for Haiti

Feb. 5, 2010
Seven students at Fox Valley Technical College are from Haiti, and some of their peers spent last night at a benefit for the Caribbean country.

Aaron Gorenc is the school's international activities manager, and he says the fundraising effort started a couple of weeks ago during the lunch hour. He says they had raised about $1,000 before the benefit even started.

About 40 Fox Valley Tech graduates are living in Haiti. One of them, Edlyne Cange, talked about her efforts in a live phone call during the benefit.

She says she's helping a group that's sending children to school in Port-au-Prince, by providing school supplies and paying their fees.
