News » Officials break ground for UW-Oshkosh building

Oct. 16, 2009
Governor Doyle was on hand this morning when UW-Oshkosh officials broke ground on a new $39 million academic building.

Chancellor Richard Wells says the building is very important to the school because they are running low on space, thanks to increasing enrollment.

Wells says the new 200,000 square foot building will be built to LEED Gold standards.  He says when it's finished, it will be the most energy efficient large building in the state.

Wells says the project is also coming in under budget.  He says they planned on spending $48 million, but the low bid for the project was $9 million less than that.
